I would like to take a moment to congratulate a couple of our Austin Modders members on an job well done over at the Mod Shop where they have been battling it out the last few months to win the top Mod of the month spot.  In April Tech-Daddy won one of these monthly tournaments with his excellent work on DSF.  What better way to follow up the next month than with Sheldog23 bringing home the gold with his Liquid Metal mod.  Congratulations guys and keep up the great work.  I wish all members best of luck with the start of a new round this month.  To see and vote on the battles going on this month, go check out The Mod Shop here:

QuakeCon 2008
Registration for QuakeCon 2008 went live last Wednesday.  With over 3000 registrations so for, the event is alive as ever.  Many of the Austin Modders got registered within the first hour, so now it is time for us to start preparing our mods for the show (or in some cases begin building them!).  Check out the following link for the latest updates on the event:

News: Maker Faire 2007

Austin Modders have a booth at the Maker Faire this year here in Austin. Maker Faire is being held at Austin's Travis County Exposition Center near Decker Lake. We have a booth in the arena area near the stage and we are showing a few of the many computer mods that our members have created. There is a $25 entrance fee to the grounds. If you have some free time Sunday, come check it out. For those not familiar with Make, it is a DIY site/magazine that features all sorts of really cool projects people have made themselves.

EVGA Mods Rigs
EVGA has stepped up to help modders get some visability to their rigs.  The public showroom already has over 200 rigs.  You have to wade around some pretty weak stuff; however, every 10th rig or so is actually pretty sweet.  They dont really specify what "mods" they are looking for, but I applaude them for their efforts.  EVGA's Mods Rigs main page states $1K sponsorship for every 200 posts.  Not too sure exactly what that means though.  Hopefully they will clear that up soon.

You can check out the page HERE..

Austin Modders made another great showing at QuakeCon this year.  Many of our most active members showed up for what I think was a great year for QuakeCon.  This year was a special treat as a case modded by members Lancer and Mickey21 was on display at the event.  The picture to the left is them posing with the reps from PNY.  We also caused quite a stir when several of our members setup 37" or better Westinghouse monitors.  Read on for more details...
