We have 16 machines earmarked for servers. We will have MANY open play games running the entire time, Including but not limited to: CS:S, CS, BF2, BF2142, CoD2, FEAR, Q3, UT2K4. Plus, as mentioned before, If nay open play server is requested, it will be put up ASAP.
Correct, this is NOT the CPL. But, if you dont play games for fun, then WTF?
Is a steam login going to be required? _________________ "If it ain't modded, what's the point?"

Yes. The XPS's for rental will have all the FILES for steam games on them, but no logon info, so you will have to bring your own login, and will oubviously only be able to play the games you have licensing for. In response to any "privacy" issues, the rental machines WILL be wiped clean immediately after the LAN. _________________ No matter how you shake and dance, the last drop always falls in your pants
Good information; thanks. We'll keep this in mind for the future.
Since the BYOC will host the CS:S tourney; only people who come to play CS:S will need a license. There's no need for us to purchase these licenses. Again; since the event is for charity - we simply do not have a budget for these "licenses".
Additionally; its too late for us to attempt to get the licenses as:
"Please allow at least (5) business days to allow enough time for your tournament application to be reviewed"
We wouldn't be able to get them in time for the event. _________________ Worklog: ATTN2Detail

Plus no offense but getting prizes in the spirit of "having fun" is not something i would drive to another state for.
Your loss then.
I'm sure there are plenty of people who feel differently.
I don't know of any lan party where nearly 1/2 the participants are likely going to walk away with some thing of value. IE not a tshirt.
I highly doubt that people would drive from another state to play for fun, thats what CAL and online scrimming is for....

Sneaj,
Thanks for your opinions; but we know that people do travel from other states to attend these events. I know of at least 4 people who are traveling... one from OK and 3 from Washington State. Some people actually play for fun and to meet new people.
Either way; it is up to the individual to decide.
If you have further comments about the event; please make sure they are constructive to all participants.
